The Cookbook Design Lab v2.0 is a start-to-finish workshop that takes you from a spark of an idea to a polished, publish-ready cookbook. If you’ve ever wondered how to turn family recipes, a niche food obsession, or a story-rich world into a cohesive, beautiful book readers actually cook from, this course gives you the roadmap and practical tools to make it happen.
Across four focused modules, you’ll build the pieces of a professional cookbook in the right order. In Module 1, you’ll clarify your purpose, audience, and theme, then create reliable, well-formatted recipes with a testing and attribution plan. Module 2 dives into how to get great photos and illustrations. Module 3 brings it all to the page with layout and typesetting fundamentals. Module 4 wraps with publishing paths (print-on-demand, offset, eBook), ISBNs and metadata, pricing and distribution, and a lean launch plan.
By the end, you’ll have a coherent concept, a recipe system, a set of images or a clear art direction, professionally structured page designs, and a confident path to publication. Whether you’re creating a community fundraiser, a family heirloom, a genre tie-in, or a market-ready title, Cookbook Design Lab v2.0 turns your ideas into a cookbook that looks, reads, and cooks like the real deal.
In this fourth module, you’ll take your finished pages to market: building a clear, realistic plan to fund, price, publish, and promote your cookbook.
We’ll demystify costs line by line, choose the right print and digital pathways, set up distribution that fits your goals, and design a targeted launch that gets your book into the hands of the cooks and chefs most likely to champion it.
You’ll leave Module 4 with:
- Clear publishing paths compared: POD (KDP Print, IngramSpark, BookVault/Lulu), offset/short‑run, and eBook (fixed‑layout vs. reflowable); when to choose each based on quantity, quality, timeline, and cash flow.
- A distribution roadmap: retail (Amazon, B&N, Bookshop via Ingram), direct‑to‑reader (Shopify/Squarespace, Gumroad), wholesale/consignment to indie bookstores, gourmet shops, farm stands, culinary schools, and museum stores; event sales and corporate/bulk orders.
- Metadata and book setup that sells: ISBNs, BISAC codes, keywords, categories, barcodes, territories, pricing, and retail descriptions that convert—plus imprint setup and look‑inside assets.
- A practical launch plan: timeline from teaser to pre‑order to launch week and beyond; ARCs and review strategy, blurbs/testimonials, press kit and sell sheet, outreach angles (seasonal hooks, local stories), and a simple landing page that captures emails and orders.
Whether you’re aiming for a tight community release or broad retail reach, Module 4 gives you the numbers, setups, and step‑by‑step launch plan to publish with confidence and get your cookbook into the right kitchens; home cooks and working chefs alike.
