English is a terribly complex, inconsistent, and frustrating language to write in. Some people have called it not really a language, but rather several languages all wrapped up in a trenchcoat pretending to be a language. 

One result of this is a handful of words that few people, including writers, really know how to use right. To help everybody out, we’ve provided a list of our twenty-five favorites. 

Get these wrong and the best that will happen is your readers notice and forgive the quirk. The worst that can happen is getting dinged in your reviews, which leads to lower sales. Either way, it’s better to catch them and get it taken care of early.
