Training #542 – Publishing News & Ask us Anything
In this ask us anything session, we began by discussing some of the latest in self-publishing news:

- Canva has acquired Leonardo.ai to enhance their generative AI capabilities
- Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is now verifying some author identities to ensure tax compliance and reduce fraudulent content. (Eventually, everybody will have to verify who they are with a government-issued ID such as a driver's license or passport or risk having their account closed.)
Some of the questions that we addressed include:
- Cost-effective strategies for incorporating colored illustrations in picture books
- Using print-on-demand services like IngramSpark and Book Vault
- The pros and cons of various formatting tools provided by Amazon
- The logistics of using different printers and distributors
- Obtaining ISBNs
- Copyright for AI-generated content
- Page signature multiples in picture books
