Training #651 — Social Media for Authors in 20 Minutes a Day
Most author advice about social media assumes you have hours to give it. Jason Brick's doesn't. In this training he lays out a system that fits in twenty minutes a day — and spends most of the session on exactly what those twenty minutes should contain.
He starts by narrowing the field. There are hundreds of platforms and you cannot do them all. From there he works through the questions that stall most authors before they post anything.
The heart of the session is a shift from chasing followers to engaging four specific groups of people.
- Fans are the readers who already show up for your work.
- Friends are your peers, other writers at roughly your stage, who will genuinely review and share.
- Famous people are the ones two or three tiers ahead of you, chosen carefully enough that they might actually notice you.
- And lead generation is everything that makes strangers aware you exist.
Jason has you build a starting list of fans, friends, and famous people, then gives you the daily routine that serves all four.
He also covers the parts nobody enjoys: how to ask for the sale without feeling salesy, how often to actually pitch your newsletter, what to do when your newsletter keeps slipping, and how to read your numbers each week so next week's posts are informed by something other than a hunch.
The session closes with practical questions from the community on where reach really lives now, what makes a reel worth making, and how much you need to worry about copyright when you use someone else's audio.
