Training #271 – Hot Seats

Welcome to the new website!

On today's live training, we spoke a little about how the migration to the new site is going and the fact that you are reading this means that the site has gone live!

For our hot seats, we covered a pair of children's books, both of which debuted as #1 best sellers in their primary categories and made the new and noteworthy lists! We covered Alan Hesse‘s comic book on climate change and Laura Young‘s first in series.

We covered topics including comic book series, targeting the right age demographic, utilizing the Look Inside for your books, the benefits of an “action cover” and a branded series, capturing your reader's emotions right at the beginning of your description, making sure that Kindle and Paperback versions are actually the same product, choosing a good series name, brainstorming in the Facebook group, modeling current (and consistent!) bestselling books, encouraging reviews from your readers (and Amazon's constant testing for their review process), the most appropriate free offer to use as a reader magnet (using coloring pages instead of an audiobook for a children's book, for example), and a (very) brief overview of pay per click advertising platforms.
