Training #629 – Ask us Anything on Accessibility and Cover Design

In this Ask Us Anything and Hot Seat session, we started off by covering some of the latest publishing news, including:

  • The New York Times changes to its bestseller lists
  • An NYT freelance reviewer dropped for AI-related plagiarism concerns
  • Whether authors should use Substack to help sell certain non-fiction books

We also went into detail about the European Accessibility Act that became active last Summer, explaining EPUB’s built-in accessibility features, micro-business exceptions, and the tools/resources you can use to check your own book accessibility.

We also had a great hot seat, where we reviewed Alexander’s illustrated chapter-book cover, where highlighted what it does well and a few areas of improvement. This also led into a discussion on optimizing our Kindle files.
